Thanksgiving 2010

Happy First Thanksgiving, Olivia! You slept through most of it, but you are only 11 days old.

Mom and dad come over to watch football (and share you with Honi Gram and Grumps and Uncle Jeff), then went to GG and Papa D's for dinner while we went to Scott and Sandi's.

We hope you enjoyed the day! We have SO much to be thankful for!

Olivia - Day 2

Dad providing a little "extra" between nursing sessions.

You are SUCH a good baby--letting mom and dad eat dinner in peace.

Uncle Jeff discussing the finer points of the perfect golf swing. He can hardly wait until he can teach you how to play!

You Have ARRIVED!

Sweet, sweet Olivia Kate...you arrived safe and sound on your DUE DATE (so rare, we are told!). November 14, 2010. You were born at 9:32am on a Sunday (the BEST day) and weighed 7 pounds 7 ounces. You are too precious for words, so here's one of your first pictures taken when you were just hours old.

Here are your (very tired!) parents, just moments after you were born...Here's a picture of your grampa...

Week 39: This Week You are The Size of...

...a mini watermelon! Baby is waiting to greet the world! She continues to build a layer of fat to help control her body temperature after birth, but it's likely she already measures about 20 inches and weighs a bit over 7 pounds. The outer layers of her skin are sloughing off as new skin forms underneath.

7 days until the due date, although we've been having daily chats about the fact that it's okay to come a little early!

Week 38: This Week You are The Size of...

...a leek!! Olivia has already plumped up. She weighs about 6.8 pounds and she's over 19 1/2 inches long. She has a firm grasp, which we'll soon be able to test when we hold her hand for the first time! Her organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb.

If baby is born with brown eyes, they'll likely stay brown. If she's born with steel gray or dark blue eyes, they may stay gray or blue or turn green, hazel, or brown by the time she's 9 months old. That's because a child's irises (the colored part of the eye) may gain more pigment in the months after she's born, but they usually won't get "lighter" or more blue. (Green, hazel, and brown eyes have more pigment than gray or blue eyes.)

Hopefully I'll only have to do a couple more of these updates! 13 days until the due date!
